How did the East German Church contribute to this transformation? one can answer: by proclaiming the gospel into all areas of life, including the social and political dimensions; by pressing the themes of “justice, peace, and the preservation of creation”; and by interceding for those arrested and for a non-violent change in the social structures. In this sense the church will also have to continue to be active in its newly changed context. Only in this way will it continue in the discipleship of Jesus Christ.
