Is there a Lutheran ethical discourse? It is obvious that the question is not as trivial as such an answer might make it appear. For the first time in the history of the human race we live in an age when people sincerely question the possibility of meaningful ethical discourse. To be sure, individuals have always disagreed on ethical issues, but the assumption was that such arguments were meaningful, that moral issues were debatable, and that such debate made sense.
