The Church’s Easter message of Christ’s resurrection tends to restrict the meaning of the resurrection to life after death. This restriction leads to the church’s self-understanding of a community locked away from the world waiting for its ultimate reward. However, the early Christian communities understood the meaning of Christ’s resurrection in a much fuller sense.
