Images of the priest or pastor in popular culture range from quaint and idiosyncratic to scandalous and hypocritical to distant and ethereal. But there are exceptions to this marginal view of the pastor, exceptions found where the pastoral vocation is explored at the levels of character, context, and conflict—and in terms of what it means not only to be a pastor but to be a self possessed of integrity.
